Artist Manager Biography
This paper was a group assignment in my Artist Management class under my Music Industry minor. The goal of the paper was to contact a real-life artist manager and interview them to relate their real experiences back to what we learned in class. I interviewed Ryan Marian with Tony Margherita Management.
History of WXJM
For my internship with WXJM Harrisonburg 88.7, the student radio at JMU, my final assignment was to write about the entire history of the station. At first, this assignment was intimidating, requiring 2000 words with very little information to be found easily. I tackled the assignment by looking through old JMU yearbooks, searching the school newspaper archives online, going to the library archives to look at old newsletters, interviewing people in person, and talking to alumni on the WXJM Alumni Facebook page. I loved this assignment because it gave me an opportunity to learn more about the past of JMU, which is something I never thought much about. I especially loved talking to alumni and hearing their first-hand stories.
Going to shows alone
For my first article as an intern with WXJM Harrisonburg 88.7, I wanted to write something inspiring, especially for women. As a college-aged woman, I could easily speak on how doing things alone was not always easy. Women are trained to think that being alone is dangerous and scary, but in reality, it doesn't always need to be that way. I wanted to write an article about going to a concert by myself and proving that it is not as scary as people assume and that you can do it too!
TopDog Law
Along with responding to potential-client messages on Instagram, I created blog posts for TopDog Law regarding advice, class action lawsuits, and crimes with their outcomes.
